Danielle (52s):
Thank you guys so, so much. Hello. My loves. Welcome back to The Wanderlover Podcast. I’m your host, Danielle Hu. And I am currently recording this episode in Biarritz, France. We were originally planning to continue driving on our European road trip to Portugal, but we stopped on the west coast of France and just fell in love with Basque country seaside, the food, the cheese, and the surf. So we decided to book an Airbnb very spontaneously for a month. We’re located super closest Spain, only around half an hour away. And so the other day we took a road trip to San Sebastian, and it’s just such a beautiful underrated part of the world that I had never explored before.

Danielle (1m 40s):
Basque Country has its own flag, its own language, it’s across the border of Spain in France. They have their own food and I’m just beyond grateful that I have the freedom to be able to literally the day before the night before we were meant to get moving, we were like, you know what, let’s just say for a month. And that’s exactly what we did. Let me know if you have any recommendations. If you’ve been to this part of the world before, I love to hear from you. And if you want to follow along my adventures in Basque country, make sure to follow along my Instagram at The Wanderlover there, you’ll also see a room tours saved to my highlights of the loft that we booked in the center of town.

Danielle (2m 26s):
I’m absolutely obsessed with it. It’s two bedrooms, really modern living room kitchen. And I actually converted the second bedroom into my office. So this is where I’ve been recording these episodes and where I am currently recording. It is perfect. The other really exciting thing that happened this week, the highlight of my week and the reason for today’s podcast episode, we had our kickoff call for the spring 2022 cohort of Momentum Mastermind. We brought together ladies from around the world who are committed and invested into their online business success and they got to meet each other for the first time we had such a beautiful two hour talk about mindset, money, mindset, limiting beliefs.

Danielle (3m 22s):
And we just got to know each other. We got to know each other’s business journeys, all the struggles we went through and behind the scenes, right? Pulling back the curtain of what you see online, all the successes, the highlight reel, the wins, really pulling that back and facing the struggles that everyone inevitably goes through in order to reach those milestones. This is one of my favorite programs that I offer at the Wanderlover. I just adore being able to bring together and mentor such like-minded individuals. And honestly, it just reminds me of where I was a few years ago, working in corporate or having just quit my job and feeling like no one around me held the same vision I did for my life.

Danielle (4m 12s):
No one really understood the struggles I was going through as a new entrepreneur. Everyone around me was working in corporate or finance or really stable jobs. And so being able to find these people for momentum members and that moment of realization where you’re like, I’m not crazy. I’m not, I’m not behind. I’m not falling behind. I am exactly where I need to be. I think that is just one of the most incredible and powerful realizations that you can have. So going off of that on every single one of our momentum calls, we have kind of a workshop style and Hot Seat coaching.

Danielle (4m 51s):
And during our kickoff call, I shared my five mottos that I’ve created, that I’ve curated for this specific group of women. And I would like to share them with all of you. These are the values that we are going to be operating and living by the next four months, I was super intentional with every single one. And I would just love to share them with all of you, my dear podcast, listeners, that Monday motivation that kick in the butt that you’re probably always looking for when you listened to one of my episodes. So I would love to hear what you think. The first motto is numbers and data over emotions.

Danielle (5m 35s):
I think this is super important to bring up first and foremost, because as business owners, we have really, really ambitious goals for ourselves. We set goals for five figure months, six figure months million-dollar businesses. And when we’re just starting and we hear all of those really high income goals, we need to be realistic of how we are going to get there and the exact income stream that’s going to help us get there. And what I mean by this is let’s say you are trying to reach a 5k month right now. We take a look at what products or services that you can introduce into your business to help you get there.

Danielle (6m 18s):
And your first idea is I want to sell an ebook for $10 and let’s say, you’re just starting out. So you don’t really have an audience yet. You don’t have an email list and you’ve still really want to hit that five K a month. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but realistically, you’re going to need to make 500 sales of a $10 ebook in order to hit your income goal of $5,000 per month. And if you don’t have a following or an audience yet, it’s probably going to require ad spend, which takes a chunk, if not all of your revenue. And it’s just going to take a lot more effort than if you were to spend the same amount of time, crafting a private coaching offer for $2,500, increasing the value of that one-on-one coaching to exceed $2,500.

Danielle (7m 14s):
And then all you have to do is get two clients in that month in order to reach your income goal of $5,000. Usually what happens when we look at the numbers, it makes sense. But then our emotions, our limiting beliefs, they get in the way they start saying, who am I to be able to offer something like that? I’m just starting out. What can I even possibly offer? No one would want to work with me. Can I do that? I don’t think I can do it. That’s where all the emotions come in. And usually that’s why I see new clients. Their first ideas are always something behind the scenes where they don’t need to show up where they don’t need to interact with everyone.

Danielle (7m 57s):
But if it was that easy, everyone would be doing it. And so my first motto numbers over emotions, we can totally smash those 5k, 10 K 20 K 50 K income goals, but we need to be realistic about our numbers, what our budget is to reach our first client and customers so that we can start reinvesting over and over and over again. And that’s when it becomes easier. And if you’ve worked with me in the past, if you’ve watched any of my masterclasses, you’ll know that I always recommend starting high ticket. So you have that service as an offer in your business suite.

Danielle (8m 39s):
You don’t even need to launch or promote it, but just have it there and know that you are able to deliver another kind of offshoot of numbers over emotions is we do not find comfort in victimhood in momentum. When we catch ourselves playing victim to our own habits and trains of thoughts, we need to be aware of them and catch ourselves and learn how to change those repeating patterns. Because sometimes it’s just really comfortable to be a victim, right? We have the same thought processes and we’ve thought about them, our entire lives. I can’t do this. I don’t like this. I’m good at this. I’m not good at that.

Danielle (9m 20s):
Those are all self-imposed and if they’re not serving you, then we need to get rid of them. We need to overcome those emotional attachments. Look at the numbers, look at the business side of things and execute from there. And remember success happens when your dreams are bigger than your excuses. Okay? Second motto, protect your energy. And I want to preface this because like attracts, like right? And so in my community, I tend to attract a lot of empaths. And when you feel what the world, what people around you are going through, it’s really easy to feel triggered.

Danielle (10m 3s):
I can proudly say that I’m very in tune with my emotions. I can go from really happy and laughing my ass off to bawling, crying the next moment, because I’ve read a really heart wrenching, sad post on Instagram. That’s just the nature of how I operate. And so as a business owner, I need to be so conscious of when these sporadic emotions are able to enter my work day. Because if I am not mindful of what comes into my frame of reference, my emotions are everywhere and I don’t want that. So I have set really hard boundaries over how much time I can spend every day looking at other people’s social media profiles.

Danielle (10m 51s):
Because sometimes even when you think that you’re doing due diligence, or when you’re getting inspiration, it’s actually affecting the way you think about your own business. And you’re looking at other people’s businesses more than your own. And it’s taking away time that you could be executing on your own. Right? I also have really hard boundaries on when I’m allowed to watch the news or even catch up with the news, because it affects me that much to the point where I either wallow in the state of the world and just feel really disempowered. So I’m very mindful of that as well for all the members of momentum. And for all of you, I want you to take time to really set boundaries and control what comes in and out of your frame of reference, know what is affecting your mood right now.

Danielle (11m 44s):
If you can pinpoint it, you need to assess, does it get to say, does it get to leave? Sometimes this can be really uncomfortable. And again, you have to change your habits. Sometimes. Maybe you’ve always shared your business wins with a close friend, or you always share what’s going on in your life with your parents. But over time you realize that the more you talk to them, the less empowered you feel about your own business and the more criticism you’re getting into your frame of reference. We don’t want that. So whenever we notice that we need to decide for ourselves and what’s best for our business too, we want that in our lives.

Danielle (12m 26s):
And very rarely is it a case of cutting people out completely. Although I know some business owners who have chosen to do that, but other times it’s just being really mindful of what you choose to share. Right? If you know that it’s going to evoke some kind of negative feedback that you just don’t want to hear, you can choose to not share it, or you can limit the amount of time that you spend interacting with certain people that is us on the offense. I wanted to draw attention to what is going on in our external world and how we are going to combat what does and does not enter our energy on the opposite side of the coin.

Danielle (13m 7s):
We have our defense and these are daily rituals, mindfulness practices. I have these written down on the first page of my journal. Whenever I have to refer back to it, whenever I’m having maybe a slow day, a down day, I remind myself of all the rituals I have in place to bounce me back. Sometimes this looks like taking a bubble bath. Sometimes it looks like lighting a candle. Sometimes it looks like taking a nap or going for a walk or reading aloud affirmations. Maybe sometimes it just means taking the whole day off. And that is always an option, but we need to remind ourselves, this is what I can do to make myself feel better in this exact moment, protect your energy.

Danielle (13m 57s):

Danielle (14m 47s):
Now back to today’s episode third motto. This is very specific to an online business. The money is in the list for the next four months in momentum. I’m going to spend a lot of time encouraging teaching and promoting email lists marketing because we always see big names, big influencers, big creators. We see their Instagram. We see their website. What is never shown to the public eye is the size of their email list. And I guarantee you every large creator also has a large email list.

Danielle (15m 27s):
Email is marketing is beyond effective. You have complete ownership of your email list. So Tik TOK might go down one day. Instagram might go down one day. You will never lose the contacts in your email list and you need to be growing it every single day. First, you need to have the funnels in place so that people are able to join your email list. And we also will be going over that in momentum. And then you have to have the systems in place where you’re able to grow your email list on autopilot every single day. And we also will be going through that and really focusing on that in momentum, because that is just how you build and grow a successful online business where you don’t actively have to be working, have to be posting every single day in order for your business to growth.

Danielle (16m 16s):
And this is how you’re going to unlock the keys to freedom because you truly are in control of all of your time and you don’t need to be spending it doing manual things that can be outsourced. You’re just saying in your zone of genius, in your zone of creativity and doing what you do best, okay, fourth motto. This applies to not only business, but life as well, build relationships. You never know where your next client is coming from. You never know how your interactions are going to affect someone’s life. That’s going to affect someone else’s life that’s then going to affect your life.

Danielle (16m 58s):
You want to build as many relationships as you possibly can. And this can look at a microscopic level as replying to your comments on Instagram, which a lot of us don’t actually do, but I will always always encourage replying back. DM-ing back to every single one of your comments and messages. There are actual people on the other side of the screen, right? Sometimes it’s just like a few emojis, but when they see that you are replying, it encourages interaction and connection between Instagram accounts. That is what we are all here to do, connect with each other, build relationships and help each other.

Danielle (17m 44s):
In some aspect of their lives. One of my private coaching clients, she is just about to her first offer. And she came to me so worried. She was like, I don’t have ads set up yet. How am I possibly going to get people to sign up just through Instagram? I feel like I really need paid ads. And the truth is you don’t, there’s no right or wrong way to do business. All you’re trying to do is build relationships. So I just matter. Fact faculty asked, I was like, are you inviting people to connect with you? Are you connecting with them? How about in your next post? You just finish the post caption with DM me If you would like to connect. A call to action to message.

Danielle (18m 34s):
And guess what? Same day she posted with a call to action. And someone had DMD her wanting to learn more, wanting to work with her. And that’s it. Business gets to be that easy. It doesn’t have to be all of these complicated funnels or Pinterest marketing strategies. It’s not about the strategy. It is about building relationships. Of course, ads and funnels are going to help, but fundamentally, we want to make sure we have the foundations down last but not least.

Danielle (19m 5s):
This is my mantra for every single one of my programs for my life for my business done is better than perfect. I also tend to attract a community of perfectionists. Usually as innate creatives, we hold our work to such a high standard, to such a high standard of perfectionism, where I am convinced that most of the times it’s just rooted in fear. Perfection does not exist, but what does exist is our subconscious fear of being judged for not being perfect, right? Or fear of being seen.

Danielle (19m 45s):
And so we hide behind this mask of perfectionism. Like I need to make it better. I need to not make this live before. It’s 110% done. We say that. But in reality, it’s because we don’t want to see other people making comments about our work. And when we stop caring, stop giving a shit of what other people say that is when all of our problems go away, we execute. We post, we launch even when it’s not perfect, knowing that our impact and our intention for the post in the first place, our ideal clients that we want the message to reach.

Danielle (20m 30s):
We know that the message is for them, not for the haters, not for the people trolling on social media. We do not care about them. We care about the people who our business is there to help. If we spend all this time, days, even weeks, even months to perfect an Instagram post or to perfect a website, think about all of the people you could be helping in that time. Instead of worrying about if like the font is a perfect size, this spacing is off, right? So this is why we operate by the motto done is better than perfect. It’s all for our community, our audience, our clients, and our customers.

Danielle (21m 14s):
I hope this episode was very insightful. I hope you live by some or all of these mottoes as well. Remember, it’s not going to be overnight that all of these make sense, but trust that the more intention and the more energy you put towards living in a certain way, it is going to happen. And it’s going to be like night and day, what you think you’re capable of and what you achieve. I’ll see you in the next episode. Don’t forget to say hi on Instagram. Have an amazing week guys.
