Do you have a trip coming up and wondering what is the best eSIM for Europe? I got you!
Last year, my husband and I did a three month road trip through Europe and we were connected to the fastest data networks the whole time – with ONE eSIM that covered all countries.
Because we both own online businesses, we needed to make sure we had reliable data without any complications.
So believe me when I say, we did all the research.
I’m so excited to share with you what is the best eSIM for European travel and why I loved using Holafly eSIM for cheap, unlimited data!

Which eSIM is best in Europe?
#1 Pick: Holafly for affordable, unlimited data.
Overall, I recommend Holafly to anyone traveling to, or spending an extended period of time in Europe.
Whether you are traveling to one country in Europe or multiple (even if you don’t know yet), this is the best option for you!
I especially recommend Holafly to anyone who wants to be connected to the internet all the time without restrictions because you get unlimited data.
Whether you want to video call friends and family back home, want to stay connected to social media, or need to work online, having unlimited data is so worth the peace of mind.
They have the best reputation and the best service, hands down.
What is Holafly’s Regional Plan?
Holafly is an eSIM data plan service that allows you to download an electronic card using a QR code and be connected to the internet as soon as you arrive.
If you have an eSIM compatible phone, you are able to install it in addition to a physical SIM card, which means you can have two networks.
In addition to country specific eSIMs, Holafly offers regional plans.
Holafly Europe covers over 30+ countries so you can have one eSIM as you travel between multiple – perfect if you are country hopping or road tripping!

Is Holafly fast in Europe?
Holafly partners with the largest data networks in Europe like Orange, so you will have 3G/4G/LTE/5G in most places.
From my experience, we traveled through France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Spain with no issues at all, even when driving through mountainous regions or when by the coast.
It was definitely fast enough for me to upload reels and stories on Instagram, take Zoom calls without any lag, and FaceTime friends and family all the time.
Holafly Europe eSIM Features
Pros of Holafly in Europe
Connected As Soon As You Arrive
As soon as you land or arrive at your first European destination, you’ll be connected to the internet.
This means you can order Ubers from the airport, check your email, and let loved ones know that you’ve made it safely.
Flexible Online Service
Everything is online with Holafly, so you don’t have to visit a physical store – ever. You can extend or change your plan with a click of a button.
One eSIM For One or All Countries
One of my favorite things about having Holafly for our road trip was not having to worry about roaming or switching SIM cards when crossing borders. You don’t have to buy a different SIM card for every country you visit.
24/7 Customer Support
I have contacted support once in Europe via Whatsapp, and they immediately solved my problem. There was no wait time or stress. I confidently recommend their team in going above and beyond!

Cons of Holafly in Europe
Limited Hotspot Data Per Day
There is no unlimited hotspot option with Holafly Europe, but you do get 500mb per day to share with others or to your other devices.
No Phone Number
You don’t get a local phone number with Holafly Europe so you won’t be able to make phone calls or send SMS texts.
That wasn’t an issue for me because you can use WhatsApp, and keep your number in WhatsApp, to make phone calls or video calls.
You are also to use apps like FaceTime, iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram to make phone calls.
Holafly Europe Pricing
Holafly Europe plans are fully customizable for location and duration. Pricing starts at $6 USD and depends on the number of days of your trip.
For example, the price of a 7-day unlimited eSIM in all of Europe is $29 USD all the way up to a 90 day plan for $139 USD.
Check out their full pricing schedule on their website.
My Experience Using Holafly in Europe
My husband and I drove from the UK through France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Spain, and experienced no problems at all with connection or speeds.
I continued uploading stories, posting videos, sending emails, and making calls.
One time we crossed a country border as I was on FaceTime with my parents and they were able to experience the excitement with us!
In the past, we would have to visit local shops to purchase a physical SIM card for that specific country, but I didn’t have to worry about any of that this time around.
Is Holafly or Airalo better for Europe?
Airalo costs a lot more than Holafly and their data is limited.
For example, Airalo costs $5 USD for ONE gigabyte of data in Europe, versus Holafly that is a full day of UNLIMITED data for $6 USD.
They also don’t partner with the fastest carriers in Europe.
Because of this, you can clearly see how users are not satisfied as Airalo has a 2.3 star score from Trustpilot (1700+ reviews) , while Holafly has 4.6 (37,900+ reviews).
Holafly Europe FAQs
Can I use my existing SIM card and a European eSIM at the same time?
Yes! You can have both and keep your existing number in WhatsApp. It’s easy to toggle between the two in your phone settings.
How long is my European data package valid for?
Your data package will be valid for the entire duration that you purchased, from 1 full day to 90 days. The time starts counting from the moment of activation as soon as you arrive at your first European country.
Is Holafly really unlimited data?
Yes, Holafly’s data is unlimited and you won’t ever run out of data.
Depending on which country you’re visiting in Europe, some carriers might impose a “Fair Usage Policy” if necessary where they decrease your connection speeds after a certain usage amount.
Conclusion: Is Holafly Worth It For Europe?
100% yes if you want cheap, unlimited data!
I have had multiple Holafly eSIMs since our trip and have never regretted it.
I will always purchase an Holafly eSIM when traveling around Europe, or for international travel, in addition to my physical SIM card so I’m always connected.
I know you will love it as much as I do.
