Where To Start

Hi everyone! There are officially less than 10 weeks left of this year, which is insane to think about. But I also think it is the most exciting time because not only are we trying to finish all of our action items from the year, we also have time to prepare for a brand new year with brand new goals.

First of all, welcome to all of our new members who have joined the coaching group. Many of you have shared that you are struggling with starting, and I think getting over this hurdle is the biggest thing that we can achieve by the end of the year.

I see you. Simon, you said, ‘Still trying to start’. Jamie, ‘Where to start. Feeling bombarded with too much information. Just want to follow a proven path’. Diane, ‘Just getting started’. Anya, ‘Getting started;. We have all been there and I know how overwhelming it is, especially in this day and age with online business, social media, and so much endless information. You are like, ‘Where do I start?’.

I want to help you. I want to offer some clarity as to what you can be thinking about and what you can be doing so that you are not confused anymore and you know exactly where to start.

Think Like a Producer, Not a Consumer

One of my favorite books (I talk about my top 5 life-changing reads in this blog) , if you have been tuning into the Wanderlover podcast, is Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco. This book completely changed my life. After reading it, I knew I no longer wanted to work in corporate. I wanted to create my own freedom-based business. I wanted time freedom, location freedom, and financial freedom. I did not want to be working paycheck to paycheck or saving up for retirement just to enjoy my life then.

One of the main points that still sticks with me today is when he says: you want to think like a producer and not a consumer. Traditional school and traditional jobs teach you to receive a paycheck, consume content, and buy. This consumerism mindset is everywhere. But in order to create freedom, you must think like a producer.

Many people get stuck because we have learned how to consume our entire lives. When you start entrepreneurship, you need to think completely differently. It feels hard because you are like, I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to sell. But the more you change that, the more you start practicing how to create things and produce things, the easier it gets.

Examples of Becoming a Producer

Instead of hiring a social media manager, learn social media and offer social media management yourself. Create your own agency. Instead of signing up for travel experiences, think about offering travel experiences. Create your own retreats, sell your own trips. Instead of buying an online course, learn how to create one yourself and teach your own course.

Instead of buying a planner, think about how to make one. Instead of consuming content and scrolling reels, think about creating your own. When you flip this switch, you start seeing how you can make money because when you have offers, products, and services, that is how money comes in.

This is what I teach in my programs: online offers, products, and services. When you start offering them, you begin to see how you can make money and create freedom. It starts with thinking like a producer, not a consumer.

Start With One Signature Offer

So where do you start? With one offer. Focus on one offer so that you can get paid. In the Wanderlover Business Academy, we create our signature offer before the social media challenge. I do not tell you to perfect your content calendar or be on multiple platforms. We focus on the offer first.

This is why we create your media kit and rate card in the Travel Influencer Handbook before waiting for brands to reach out. Do you see how we create the way we get paid before we create the content.

Decide what you are going to offer by the end of the year. You will get so much more momentum after your first sale. The first time I made money online, I realized I no longer needed to rely on my corporate salary. That first dollar creates a domino effect.

If you do not know what to offer, take out a blank sheet of paper and write down ideas. Do not talk yourself out of them. Fill two pages if you can and get into the habit of seeing opportunities. Also remember, the first offer you choose is not what your entire business must be forever. Do not put pressure on yourself. Make it fun, make it abundant, think about the people you can help. Think about what you would have fun creating, selling, and charging for.

How to Get Support

If you want a step by step guide to create your offer, build your online business from scratch, and scale to 100k, I will include the link to the Wanderlover Business Academy. We have such an amazing community and so many people coming out of the program who are thriving in their online businesses.

If you are stuck, start with one offer then learn how to scale it. I have faith in you. I am here to help you. I am always in this group and I am so looking forward to growing this community and your business by the end of the year and for many years to come.
